The old woman is officially "in training"!

Whew! Speaking of really freakin' hot: I just spent 15... count 'em... 15 minutes outside in the humid, hot SC summer air running/speed walking as per Lauren's very helpful link to the "Real Simple" website. I guess I did all right. At least I started which was my big hurdle! And while 15 minutes may not sound like much, I must say that I am totally wringing wet, ready for a shower AND quite sure that my neighborhood has way more hills than I once thought it did! I will keep you posted! Run, April, Run! And you too, Lauren!

Saturday, I begrudgingly went to the fitness center in my gym. And I loaded up on a few fitness friendly things to keep my mind off of the act of running including a Self magazine and a volleyball match on TV. I surprised myself and ran ten minutes, because a few days before, I had come out of a 6 minute run, panting and gasping for air. This leads me to be amazed at how adaptable our bodies can be -- and how true the saying "Mind over matter" really is.
